Hello, delegates!
My name is Grace Melton, and I am beyond grateful to be serving as your Deputy Secretary-General!
LIMUN is my favorite LAMP tradition (This is the 40th year!). All four years I have participated in MUN have given me personal growth, friendships, and countless memories. It is so rewarding to see people come out of their shells when participating in MUN, as I did when I first got to LAMP. In LIMUN alone, I have taken part in general committees, such as SOCHUM and WHO, and I also had the opportunity to chair the Joint Crisis Committee last year. This variety of experiences has built a strong appreciation for all the great things MUN provides, such as productive debate and awareness of events happening in our world.
Here are a few things about me:
I love rom-coms (When Harry Met Sally is the best one).
I come from a big family with six siblings, four sisters, and two brothers.
I keep myself very busy with MUN, student government, cross-country, and helping to put on another LAMP event—Showing Our Other Side—in November.
I am constantly watching TV shows, but I have a bad habit of spoiling the plot and then not finishing them.
In all seriousness, I am so grateful to be a part of the leadership for this year's conference. A tremendous amount of work from the secretariat has been put into making sure this conference is as meaningful to y'all as it has been to all of us. It is crucial that all of us learn how to use our voices, beyond MUN. The more you put into this conference, the more you will get out of it. I highly encourage you to step into your role and do everything with a purpose. Remember: you can only learn by putting yourself out there. I cannot express how excited I am for all the debate and creativity among the 19 committee rooms.
See y'all soon,
Grace Melton
Deputy Secretary-General of LIMUN XL
