LIMUN XXXVIII
January 30 - 31, 2025
Debate. Diplomacy. Action.
Welcome, delegates!
We are so excited to be hosting the 38th annual session of the Loveless Academic Magnet Program Model United Nations Conference, and we cannot wait to open debate once more.
Our conference aims to examine the world in its current state by facilitating an open dialogue to research and discuss developments with peers who have their own unique perspectives and experiences. Whether it be SPECPOL’s examination of the possible reunification of Cyprus or the ICJ’s evaluation of the implications of drone warfare or the Historical Crisis Committee’s take on the American Revolution, we cover it all!
Here at LAMP and throughout LIMUN, it is our mission to remain committed to respect, dignity, and unity. We hope that our conference reflects the balance between spirited debate and consideration of our different viewpoints.
Debate, diplomacy, and action run the world. We look forward to seeing everyone soon.
Best,
Whether you're a new player on the MUN scene or a veteran who wants to brush up on their skills, LIMUN's new Wednesday Night Workshop is perfect for you!
On January 29th, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., the LIMUN Travel Team will be hosting a workshop for any and all delegates. Topics to be covered in this comprehensive pre-conference rundown include:
What is MUN, anyway?
How do crisis committees work? What makes special committees special?
What are motions, caucuses, points, and blocs?
How do I write a resolution, and how is that different from a working paper?
How do you ask to go to the bathroom in MUN-speak?
We know that MUN can be overwhelming with its limitless parliamentary procedures and confusing jargon, and we're here to make sure that delegates at every point of their MUN journey are ready to enjoy LIMUN to its fullest Thursday morning.
If you need help with anything from efficiently compiling your research materials into a physical binder (no technology is allowed in committee) to putting the finishing touches on your position paper (required to be considered for awards!), sign up through the Google Form below:
LIMUN XXXVIII will build on more than three decades of experience organizing one of the best high school conferences in Alabama. Since 1985, LAMP students have been dedicated to providing a unique Model United Nations experience for delegates from across the state. Thirty-eight years of our annual conference have taught LIMUN and its secretariat how to facilitate stimulating committees and debate—all in the name of an unforgettable two days.
LIMUN continues to be an entirely student-run and student-organized conference. With over 500 delegates and 18 committees ranging from UN Security Council to Avatar: The Last Airbender, LIMUN provides a unique and fulfilling setting for all of its delegates. It connects students with other delegates from around the state through meaningful debate on conflicts both historical and current, fictional and real.
LIMUN XXXVIII is staffed by dedicated students who have been recommended by school faculty and proven their dedication to Model UN. Every member of our secretariat is also a member of LAMP's traveling MUN team, which competes at conferences around the nation.
