A Letter From Maryam

Hello hello delegates!

My name is Maryam Khan, and I am so honored to serve as your Secretary-General for LIMUNXXXIX! 

LIMUN is a tradition I hold very dear to my heart. I have participated in LIMUN since freshman year. I served as a Crisis Director my sophomore year, served on Secretariat last year, and I am so excited to assist in leading LIMUN’s 39th session this year. Our conference is special because it brings young people together, and allows us the opportunity to have important conversations that are very much needed in our world today. I hope you leave our conference inspired and filled with a sense of drive to go out and change the world we live in for the better. 

Here's a little bit about me:

• I love public speaking! I serve as our school’s speech and debate president, and have been to Des Moines twice for Nationals (and no, Iowa isn’t that boring). 

• Mayonnaise is one of the best condiments to exist. Do not debate me on this because I will win! 

• My favorite meme is Jaden Smith’s iconic “Can we talk about the political and economic state of the world right now?” 

• I love TV! My favorite movie of all-time is Little Women (2019). My most recent binge show was TSITP. #TeamConrad

• I've loved the Eagles since third grade. Go Birds!

• My shoes are never tied. Yes, it is one of my greatest weaknesses.

Now, back to LIMUN! It has been a privilege to lead such a talented Secretariat this year, and I am so proud of each and every one of them. Whether you are new to our conference or an experienced veteran, I hope you all feel comfortable and safe expressing your thoughts in a world where your voice truly matters. You get exactly what you put into this activity, so make sure to come prepared to learn and lead.  We certainly can talk about the political and economic state of the world right now, and I hope you seize the opportunity to do just that. Always remember, debate and diplomacy can change the world. I look forward to meeting you all!
