Hi delegates!
My name is Hayden Jackson, and I'm truly excited to serve as your chair for the World Health Organization (WHO) Committee this year! I previously served as the secretary for the WHO Committee in LIMUN XXXVIII! I genuinely enjoyed serving as a secretary for the WHO Committee last year, specifically because I want to pursue orthopedic surgery.
WHO is a specialized agency of the United Nations responsible for discussing and debating ways to improve international public health physically and mentally. In the World Health Organization Committee, we will discuss solutions to issues that aid in improving public health.
Here’s a little about me! I am a junior at LAMP; I also play flag football and cheer for LAMP! I’m a part of Science Olympiad, which heavily revolves around science and math. Science is one of my favorite subjects, so I genuinely enjoy the WHO Committee. In my spare time, I volunteer at the Montgomery Food Bank and intern at Jackson Hospital, shadowing surgeons! My favorite movie is Save the Last Dance, I love to bake, and my two favorite books are Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson and The Devil’s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen. Lastly, I’m family-oriented and love to hang with my friends—especially at football games :).
For this year’s LIMUN Conference, I expect you all to come prepared and ready to participate—I know public speaking is scary, guys, but trust me, by the end of LIMUN XXXVIII, you will be excited to participate and hopefully have enjoyed your experience. I’m so excited to meet all of you!
Warmest regards,
Hayden Jackson
