Greetings Future Delegates,
My name is Jacob Henderson, and I’ll be your chair for the United Nations Disarmament Commission, or UNDC, this year. I’m currently in my Junior year here at LAMP, and this will be my fourth time participating in LIMUN and my first time leading a part of it.
My Fun Facts/Opinions:
Mint chocolate chip is the best ice cream when you don’t have a rat in your ear telling you it tastes like toothpaste
My favorite color is lavender–in case my tie doesn’t already show it
Impractical Jokers is the best TV show out there(when Joe was still involved, of course), and Interstellar is undoubtedly worth the 3 hours it takes to watch it
Our record may not show it, but Aditya and I are locked in for Public Forum Debate(affirm Brenter)
I have represented Russia in two of my three LIMUN experiences
Now it’s time for what most of you probably came here for: what is UNDC? To you, I would offer a rather academic explanation: have you participated in a Socratic Seminar? If yes, imagine one of those, but everyone is representing armed countries, some of which have access to weapons of mass destruction, and the topic of discussion is how to realistically reduce unnecessary wartime suffering. With this being in the General Assembly, all of the big-name countries–Russia, China, North Korea, South Korea, the US, Mexico, Canada, France, the UK–will be represented, leading to some very fun interactions between delegates.
I can’t wait to see how well you all perform in our debates!
Best wishes,
Jacob Henderson
