Hey Delegates!
My name is Taseen Akbar, and I am super excited to see you all as your LIMUN XXXIX chair for NATO! I have been doing MUN since freshman year, and this is my first year on the LIMUN Secretariat. I hope to make your experience at LIMUN fun and exciting for everyone!
Some fun facts about me:
I love learning about history to spend my free time and to learn about our current world.
I am the type of guy who watches fun, goofy math videos on YouTube (yes, they exist. You just gotta LOOK for them).
Apparently, I am not up-to-date on pop culture right now. I’m not the type of guy who catches up a lot on those things, but a lot of people at my school have a problem with that (-_-).
I participate in other clubs at LAMP including Speech and Debate, Science Olympiad, and HOSA.
I have a lot of favorite games on my Nintendo Wii that I always come back to play, such as Mario Kart Wii and Sonic Unleashed (truly an underrated game).
In NATO, you must be prepared to address high stakes scenarios collaboratively alongside your allies so that the whole alliance can take a course of action against larger security threats. I am very excited to hear all of the discussions and debates that we will have, whether you all work things out smoothly or have bitter infighting amongst yourselves. Do not feel the need to be overly restricted when engaging in committee because you might just bring up a creative solution that really makes the session move forward in an interesting way. Although prior research is a part of the puzzle to do well, being able to actually take initiative and meaningfully engage in committee is THE way to succeed and have a great time in LIMUN.
I can’t wait to meet everyone and have a great time! :)
Sincerely,
Taseen Akbar
